Grants Types
Small Project Grant Applications (up to £20,000)
Small project grants are for initiatives that:
- Will provide a better service for patients.
- Can help you do your job more effectively.
- Support the Charity's vision and mission - ie to promote excellence in healthcare, and to raise, invest and grant funds for innovation and improvement in patient care, medical research and education.
- Are new initiatives and not ‘top ups’ for existing projects.
- Fit in with one or more of our themes (see below).
Please note that ‘strategic research’ requests can only be submitted as a large project grant
Please submit a signed, hard copy of the application form to The Charity office, FAO Katrina Haines, as well as an electronic Word version, preferably with electronic signatures, to katrina.L.haines@bartsandthelondon.nhs.uk
Large Project Grant Applications (£20,000-£500,000)
Project grants are for initiatives that:
- Support the Charity's vision and mission - ie to promote excellence in healthcare, and to raise, invest and grant funds for innovation and improvement in patient care, medical research and education.
- Are fixed term initiatives.
- Fit in with one or more of our themes (see below).
New and innovative ideas will be given priority.
If you wish to apply for a large project grant, please complete a Preliminary Application form. Please click on the links below.
There are two types of large project grants, for which there are two different Preliminary Application forms:
- Strategic Research Project Grants (in relation to the Strategic Research Theme). Please note that applications relating solely to rodent-models do not fall within the eligibility criteria. Please contact Dr Anoushka de Almeida (anoushka.dealmeida@bartsandthelondon.nhs.uk for further clarification.
- Non-Research Project Grants (in relation to the Enhancement in Service Delivery, Innovative Training and Development and Patient and Community Engagement Themes)

DEADLINE FOR PRELIMINARY APPLICATIONS: THURSDAY 12th APRIL 2012
- For Strategic Research Project Grants: Please submit the preliminary application form to the Joint R & D Department, QM Innovation Centre, Whitechapel, by 12th April 2012

Clinical Training Fellowship Grant Applications
The deadline for Clinical Training Fellowships Applications has now passed. The next round of applications will take place spring/summer of 2012.
Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) Support Funding
The deadline for Academic ClinicalFellowships Applications has now passed. The next round of applications will take place spring/summer of 2012.
Cancer Research Grant Applications
The Charity has a discrete fund to support projects that focus on the causes and prospective treatments of cancer.
This fund is for:
- Small projects (up to £10,000)
- Ongoing projects, or
- Projects providing primary data for new initiatives.
The deadline for the Spring-round of Cancer Research Applications has now passed.
